Milena Radnovic (University of Sydney)
Program Description:
This research program focusses on the dynamics of mathematical billiards and its reach into differential geometry, integrable systems, geometric optics, and dynamical systems. The program is organised around recent results and open problems, with more than half of the program reserved for small-group collaboration. The main motivation of this program is to bring together experts in different, but very much related, fields such as differential, classical, and symplectic geometry, mathematical physics, Hamiltonian systems, geometric and celestial mechanics, and analysis; the techniques used in one area can be translated into the languages and toolsets of another, allowing for the integration of these communities to help answer longstanding open questions about periodicity, stability, and integrability. Further benefits include establishing and continuing collaborations between Australian and international researchers, advancing scientific knowledge, and publication
of program results.
