Teichmüller Theory and Flat Structures

David Wood

  •  17 Mar 2025 - 28 Mar 2025
     8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Organisers:
Paul Norbury (University of Melbourne)
Viveka Erlandsson (University of Bristol)
Scott Mullane (University of Melbourne)

Program Description:
The program aims to develop techniques in the emerging area of Teichmueller dynamics on moduli spaces and explore connections with the algebraic geometry of these spaces. The significance of moduli spaces is evidenced by wide applications across fields including dynamics, cryptography, and the basis of models of the universe in theoretical physics. The perspective developed, in addition to contributing to current advances in Teichmueller dynamics, is expected to bring new insight to long-standing classical questions from algebraic geometry. Further benefits will include building international collaborations and networks contributing to the growing active communities of both algebraic geometry and Teichmueller theory in Australia providing significant benefits to pure mathematics and related scientific fields.
