We are thrilled that the University of Sydney, through the Sydney Mathematical Research Institute, will join MATRIX as an Associate Member from 2026.

The University of Sydney joins MATRIX partners Monash University, the University of Melbourne and the University of Queensland, along with Associate Members the Australian National University and the University of New South Wales.

MATRIX is critical national research infrastructure for the mathematical sciences as recognised in the 2026 National Research Infrastructure (NRI) Issues paper. The addition of the University of Sydney is a key step forward for MATRIX and the Australian mathematical sciences community.
