Program Description:
This event is a follow up to a similar event held in December 2024. The program will principally focus on two interconnected areas of research:
- Moduli spaces and stacks; those arise as parameter spaces of objects in algebraic geometry. Their geometry encodes fundamental properties of the objects under consideration. As a result, constructing and studying moduli spaces occupies a central place in modern algebraic geometry, and has abundant applications to neighbouring fields like mathematical physics, number theory, and representation theory.
- Derived categories; a natural method to analyse geometric problems is linearisation (e.g.calculus, differential equations, leasts quares). In modern geometry, one linearisation of a geometric object is given by a family of vector spaces related by linear maps; that is, a complex of coherent sheaves. The category of complexes of coherent sheaves is conveniently packaged into a derived category.
