Program Description:
The program aims to assemble experts in integrable systems and topological recursion with a common interest in enumerative geometry. The significance of this field is demonstrated by the breadth of different areas in mathematics and physics influenced by topological recursion. There has been a rapid growth in the number of publications in the field since the seminal work of Eynard and Orantin was published in 2007. Over the last decade, a large number of significant research events on this topic have been held around the world. This includes successful MATRIX programs in 2016 and 2021. Over this time, the field has advanced rapidly, evidenced by the Kontsevich–Soibelman reformulation of topological recursion, breakthroughs in our understanding of symplectic invariance, direct applications to the theory of resurgence and non-perturbative physics, and ongoing developments in enumerative geometry. It is thus an ideal time to host this program in Australia. Beyond the stimulation of new developmentsin the field, further benefits will include the building of international collaborations and networks, an increased contribution from the Australian community to this field, and the significant benefits to pure mathematics and related scientific fields that will ensue.

MATRIX Wine and Cheese Afternoon 2 December 2025
On the first Tuesday of each program, MATRIX provides a pre-dinner wine and cheese afternoon. Produce is locally-sourced to showcase delicacies from the region.
