Program Description:
This program will host a short conference followed by intensive research at the cutting edge of the mathematics of metamaterials. It will provide Australian researchers working on metamaterials with the opportunity to interact with senior and emerging experts from the international community. Participants have been secured from major international research groups in the UK, Europe and USA, who will be able to share the latest trends in the mathematics of metamaterials, and provide advice on interdisciplinary collaborations and interacting with industry. We also have participants from New Zealand, Japan and Saudi Arabia. A central aim is to promote Australia as an emerging leader in the rapidly growing field of mathematics of metamaterials, and accelerate domestic and international collaborations.
The program intends to focus research and collaboration on the following areas:
- Space-time modulation, including graded structures and dissipative materials;
- Developing mathematical tools for exploration of complex or weakly broken geometries;
- Exploring high-frequency homogenisation techniques;
