Program Description:
The central focus of this research program is existence, uniqueness, regularity and classification of Cartan subalgebras in nuclear C*-algebras, and the interplay between these research questions and questions about regularity properties of dynamical systems, including dynamical notions of topological dimension. Now is a pivotal moment in the theory of Cartan pairs of C*-algebras, as collaboration between experts in Cartan-subalgebra theory and in regularity and dimension theory can deliver another leap forward. This program will foster such collaboration by inviting leading researchers from Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Rim, Europe and North America.

The program will consist of two blocks, each of two weeks’ duration. The first week of each block will incorporate opportunities for students and early-career researchers (ECRs) to showcase their work, and curated expository talks to provide focus for large blocks of informal collaboration time. The second week of each block will incorporate a two-day mini-workshop and further large blocks of informal collaboration. A small core of key researchers will be in residence for the duration, while key specialists and ECRs will attend in two-week blocks.
