Convexity, Geometry and Computation

David Wood

  •  28 Nov 2022 - 2 Dec 2022
     8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Organisers:
Martin Helmer (North Carolina State University)
Cordian Riener (The Arctic University of Norway)
Vera Roshchina (UNSW Sydney)
James Saunderson (Monash University)

Program Description:
This workshop seeks to bring together leading experts in several complementary fields of mathematics with a view towards stimulating progress in both pure and applied mathematical contexts. There will be a focus on computation, both in terms of the development of effective algorithms and as a means to gain theoretical insights in both mathematics and the sciences.

A central theme of the workshop will be convexity, which is an important property in many areas of mathematics with applications to various domains. We will, in particular, focus on recent interactions among the areas of real algebraic geometry, computational algebra, and polynomial optimization which are built around this concept.
