MATRIX-RIMS Tandem Workshop: Geometric Analysis in Harmonic Analysis and PDE

Program Description:
In the last decades, the interaction between harmonic analysis and partial differential equations has grown stronger. At the same time, geometric methods have become ever more important in harmonic analysis and partial differential equations (PDE),
and harmonic analysis and PDE have influenced geometric analysis. The aim of the tandem workshop is to bring together leading mathematicians from Australia (and nearby countries) and Japan (and nearby countries) with research interests in these areas. There is already expertise in both countries in the areas of the proposed workshop, but to date not much interaction between the two.

Some areas that the workshop will focus on include:

  • Interaction between harmonic analysis and linear and nonlinear dispersive PDE
  • Analysis on exotic geometries

Program Structure: TBC

The five-day workshop will have some basic structure:
1. Formal presentations will be held between 10:00 and 12:30 and between 14:30 and 17:00 AEST, which corresponds to between 09:00 and 11:30 and between 13:30 and 16:00 JST.
2.The timeslots from 09:00 to 10:00 in Creswick and similarly the timeslot from 16:00 to 17:00 in Kyoto will be kept open for discussions in pairs or small groups of the participants in each location.
